The Hand of Fatima rock formations are near the Hombori village. The tallest tower rises 2,000 feet (610 meters) from the desert floor. The Rocks are called Hands of Fatima because they look like fingers stretching to the sky.
Hamsa is Hand of Fatima in Muslim tradition, Hand of Miriam in Jewish tradition, and possibly older than either of the great religions. The mountains consist of quartzite and sandstone. You can climb on those rocks as well if you dare.
