Lac Débo, English Lake Debo, situated in central Mali on a section of the Niger River between Mopti, located 50 mi (80 km) to the south, and Timbuktu, 150 mi to the northeast. In this region the Niger is joined by many lakes, creeks, and backwaters; at high water, Lac Débo becomes part of a general inundation. This is the place where one can see fishers at work, birds and river bank villages.
