The village of Amani is well know because of its pond with sacred crocodiles, home to about crocodiles up to two meters long. The Caiman is considered the ancestor of the villages and is entitled to a funeral like that of human. The Caiman is sacred to the Dogon people in Amani for centuries, ever since the Dogon left the Manding region.
